All The Trimmings!

At The Fatted Calf we begin planning our Thanksgiving menu before the first autumn leaf hits the ground. While turkey may be the holiday’s grande dame, it’s the supporting sides and accoutrements that steal the show and linger in our memories. A charcuterie platter, replete with saucisson sec, pâté maison, duck rillettes and plenty of pickled veg, helps to keep the hungry wolves at bay and the lurking pests out of the kitchen. Stuffing, in all of it’s infinite variations, from cornbread and chorizo to brioche with sage and onion sausage, is the subject of many delicious discussions. Whether it’s sautéed Brussels sprouts with chestnuts and pancetta, creamed spinach with bacon or collards braised with the salvaged drippings from last week’s pork roast, a bowl of greens is a must have. Good gravy begins with our rich, gelatinous broth made from roasted chicken, turkey or duck. Pie, oh my! Don’t forget the leaf lard and suet for a flaky, tender crust and a sweet finish to a fabulous feast.

Vintage Berkeley Deliveries On Thursday

Live in Berkeley? Need a meat fix but hate to cross the bridge? We are happy to drop off any special order to Vintage Berkeley on Vine Street on Thursdays. Just give us a call at 707.256.3684 up until noon the Wednesday before and we will have your order waiting for you the following day.

Special Holiday Hours

Fatted Calf at the Oxbow Public Market in Napa will be open from 9 am until 5 pm on Wednesday, November 26 and closed on Thursday, November 27 for Thanksgiving.

Fatted Calf on Fell Street in San Francisco will be open from 10 am until 6 pm on Wednesday, November 26 and closed on Thursday, Novemeber 27 for Thanksgiving.

There will be no deliveries to Vintage Berkeley on Thursday, November 27.

Fatted Calf will not be attending the Ferry Plaza farmers market on Saturday, November 29.
